As Zorya Films production of City of Mermaids begins, Christopher Chapman (Executive Producer) and Bobby Marinelli (Director) set forth to make another iconic film for Zorya.

Bobbyt Marinelli is new to the Zorya family as director; however, he is not new to Zorya. On the previous project “The Accident” Bobby worked as the Production Designer for the feature.

Bobby is a Tampa area local and graduate of the University of Florida and holds an MFA in Film Production from Florida State University. His production credits include Discovery Channel’s Miami Ink and Dual Survival and TLC’s What Not to Wear, in addition to films such as Roswell FM, Altitude, The Accident, and the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Selection, The Rambler. His film Waking Eloise won a College Television Award for comedy short, the Grand Jury Prize for a short at Dances With Films and inclusion in the 2011 American Pavilion’s Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. Bobby now lives in St. Petersburg and is working diligently to produce CITY OF MERMAIDS!

Christine is a mermaid performer at a struggling roadside attraction in Florida, where she and a team of mermaids put on underwater shows to diminishing crowds in the natural spring waters of Weeki Wachee Springs. As a third generation mermaid, Christine’s destiny is with the park and the tight-knit community which surrounds it. But as time goes on, Christine develops an unquenchable thirst to see the world outside of Weeki Wachee.

As the park fights to stay afloat, Christine must choose between a life carved out for her in the spring and an unpredictable future on the surface. Set at the start of the new millennium, City of Mermaids is a journey through the changing tides of life, love, and the perils of coming of age.
